The Boys Are Back In Town

by Sweetlove

The infamous monobrow is BACK… OI OI OI style!

Mr. Alex Ridha a.k.a the almighty Boys Noize has released previews of his 2 brand new tracks, due for full release on the 15th of next month. I’ve managed to get my hands on a FULL, 96 kb version of one of the standout previews entitled “Starter”.
It’s an absoloute cracker, the sort of production I’ve been waiting for for a long time.

Boys Noize – Starter [ 96kbs - 3:41 ]

Next up we have a few mixes of “Turbo Love” by amazing Sydney duo Bag Raiders. The Light Year mix sounds very similar to a Lifelike production; very dreamy, toned down and transgressional. The Whitenoise mix was, in my opinion a bit of a let down. Very tame in comparison to their previous Bag Raiders mix of “Fun Punch”. Shinichi Osawa has done it again. Although it does sound a bit cluttered at points, it’s fucking stellar work by the Japanese superstar.

This next track belongs to be on this post like it belongs in a set… at the end. Thin White Duke seems to have this formula for producing such uplifting, “off your face at 5 in the morning with your arms around your best mates screaming the lyrics to Mr Brightside” type tracks. And there’s no exception here with his “last song of the night/sunset at a summer music festival” take on Sneaky Sound System’s “It’s Not My Problem”.

Yuksek & Brodinski, team up for the first mix on ‘Lose You’… an atmospheric intro sets the scene with the vocal used to full effect before a heavy drum pattern enters the fray… building up to a crescendo before it drops away to an equally impressive outro… another quality production.

b-b-bang

by jake

I’m pretty shattered I didn’t catch Lee Mortimer this month. Especially when his so available (currently touring Australia) and especially when he has the ability to create something like this, so so beautiful. This isn’t your typical Lee Mortimer track.. usually a track of his standard consists of anywhere between 60-70% fidget. But when I say fidget.. I mean borderline dub. This is 60-70% pure fucking banger. It has all the ingredients to set your house on fire:
  • Black guy vocals [check]
  • Crookers ‘WOW’ sample [check]
  • Driving synth [check]

I Want You

by jake

After the brilliant ‘Gone Too Far’, Dre Skull keeps up the pressure with another hot joint on Mixpak Records. ‘I Want You’ showcases a different side to Dre Skull… an insanely catchy slice of shiny dancefloor electro… a diva driven melody swamped in a bouncing bassline and a sugar coated hook… yet still packed with all the elements to keep your dancefloor heaving!

Not Happy Jan

by Sweetlove

FUCK… so OK, I decided to finally check out the Winter Sound System line-up and I have to say, I’m fucking fuming!

Seems that Redial, one of my all time favourite Australian DJs/Producers, isn’t playing the Melbourne leg of the national festival. Looks like Sydney’s local ear drum melting niteclub Trashbags will be keeping their golden boy all for the NSW kids. Shattered.

Originally producing as Ghettoruckus, this guy has come under alot of scrutiny under the name Redial over the past few months for being “unoriginal” and “directly stealing samples from other artists”. Despite all this flack, Redial has soldiered on and, in my opinion produced some amazing bangers.

His style could be described as a T-Rex screaming at a taco. Heavy kicks, crazy guitar synth work, uplifting piano interludes and driving basslines. ZOMG.

Albeit, I do see where the scrutiny has come from… for example:
The intro for “45 Overdrive” sounds remotly like the outro for sebastiAn’s “Walkman”,
The start of Redial’s track “1985″ sounds similar to Kavinsky’s “1986″ and
The core drum/synth loop for Redial’s “Scavanger” sounds relativly identical to the intro of sebastiAn’s “Greel”.

But seriously, despite all these finicky similarities Redial is the man to go to if you like your music like you like your penis… AWESOME-O!

Redial – Valkyrie

BONUS ROUND: I made a little mash when I was bored, lemme know what you think y’all.

I will be your hero baby.

by Barnz

Straaatch is one half of StereoHeroes.
Out of all condiments, one thing i love most is mustard.
The only thing i love more than mustard are pimps.
You can only imagine how i feel about Straaatch’s mix of Mustard Pimp!

That is all for now.
Out!

FITTING IN = MAINSTREAM

by jake

I’m going to be honest – I’m not much of a live music band guy/groupie/slut/fan/appreciator (too much screech, not enough hand claps and cowbell) but I ventured down to catch The Merchants supporting The Galvatrons last night with an open mind and a super cool singlet. The Merchants warmed me up with some much appreciated cowbell and a hand clap here an there. The place then filled up in a haze and enter did the Galvatrons.

It’s safe to say – i’ve never really envied someone’s haircut until now.

KRYPTONITE

by Barron

Now theres the underground ‘beanie look’ i’m going for. In celebration of the coolest beanie to ear combo I have seen (since grade 3 and Mr. Westwoods rocking beanie collection) i’d like to share with you this. I fell in love with this song instantly as it reminds me of Robe. A simple place were 2 slabs where downed nightly and creepy phone calls were made to women while intoxicated. Yes I am indeed talking about the place in South Australia where Myself, Wtrs, and our trusty old pal Clay went a few months back. check it, SOOOO good!

Sorry about the Z-share link. Mediafire wouldn’t allow me to upload it! xx

Beanies

by Barnz

So i have finally gotten around to my first post.
Due to me being too underground, and posting being too mainstream, don’t expect posts very often and don’t expect them to be very exciting. If anything, expect many references to beanies, the deep dark underground and the occasional sexual innuendo.

If any of you, like me, enjoy some rockin’ songs, remixed with a little bit of a ‘dancy’ beat to it then you should enjoy some of this work from Difuzion Krew: If you are (like me) fed up with that nasty piece of work Crookers did with Thunderstruck, then this track might just be the fresh vibrations needed for your constant bleeding ear drums.

Thunderstruck (Difuzion Krew Remix) – ACDC

Keeping with the theme of what was written above, i am going to keep on track with the Difuzion Krew and another track that makes you loose your shit; remixed or not. However this mix will keep those on the boppers rocking, without having to completely change styles of music. Ya get?

Song 2 (Difuzion Krew Remix) – Blur

Out!

Oh and before i forget, about bloody time Melbourne got their act together and actually turned out for a damn good act! (Yes I’m talking about The Twelves!) Designer Drugs.. Empty.. Le Castle Vania.. Empty! Fucking disgraceful! Here we have some guys putting on some bloody good acts, and most of you half-wits out there are too stupid listening to Katie Perry to even realise half the shit that’s going down. Also, Bingo Players are coming to Melbourne in June.. If you ask me who they are i will personally burn down your house and kick your cat in the face!

Now im realy out!

ChairLift

by Barron

Hmm, Sinden I dont know what to do with you. One minute your brilliant, the next I could throw you in a blender. You’re lucky this unreleased piece of chunky goodness is back to the stuff we love. Check out the tribal drums and rug-rats cartoonish backing sound, you’ll know what i mean.
