The End Is Neigh…

by Sweetlove

daft-punk-dj-hero-3

Will the Chinese change their 2010 calanders to the year of the robot?
Will R2D2 and CP30 make a red carpet comeback?
Will fashionista’s and gold-diggers exchange their breast implants for a titanium cereberal cortex?

Now, I’m not a gymnist; but with their collaboration and input on DJ Hero, next in the series of the popular Guitar Hero franchise [pictured above], as well as their well-known affiliation with the new Tron movie, I’m pretty sure Daft Punk will be the vanguard for the artificial apocolypse of 2010.

Here’s another “leaked” track from the original Tron Legacy score:

KILLA KELA’s new single ‘Everyday’, produced by Alan (Braxe) will be remixed by us this month, check out this really, really cool track.”

You know you’re in for a good release when Lifelike firstly praises the production and then promises a remix. However I wasn’t completely sold with Lifelike’s sweeping synths and ambient breaks. Instead I was much more impressed with DCUP’s edition, a shazam-esque parody of sound that’ll have you humming the tewn all day. And I thought i’d throw in the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs version because not only do they have an uber awesome name, but i’m filling every end of the genrelized spectrum.

some of my favourite songs… acoustic

by jake

It’s common knowledge that when a good song is released, it will be followed by a number of youtube acoustic covers. Thus, I bring to you some of my favourites (in no particular order).

Ozone – Dragostea Din Tei
Something about his mastered, western voice and the fact that his singing Numa Numa appeals to my lobes. I’d be serenaded by this guy, no doubt.

Dragostea din tei

Gorillaz – Feel Good Inc.
Everybody loves the Gorillaz. I don’t think I’ve come across a person that doesn’t.

Sam Hart – Mario Kart Love Song
Well this isn’t a cover, this is much better. An original song depicting the direct parallels between love and Mario Kart. It’s amazing how much talent can be exposed via youtube.

Whatevz Trevz

dawson-crying

Don’t cry, dry your eyes.
I’m posting again.

First up we have the glorious Designer Drugs. These guys have proven to be fairly hit and miss over the past year or so, albeit; more on the HIT side in my opinion. Their take on the horrendous track “Jump” by Flo-Rida and Nelly Furtado it’s actually quite good.
They’ve abandoned their usual Nu Wave style and opted for a real Crookers feel. I highly rate it.

Flo Rida  ft. Nelly Furtado – Jump (Designer Drugs Mix)

RED FUCKING ALERT!
This is a fucking banger… and then some. Udachi & Jubilee have brought us this little gem, simply named “Paypur”… Remixing this would be blasphemous!
Heavy, wobbly synth lines and chopped vocals here and there for good measure.

Udachi & Jubilee – Paypur

With the fucking slew of horrible Pon De Floor mixes out there on the interwebs, it’s nice to finally come across one that breathes fresh air into a track without straying too far from the original. If it aint broke, don’t fix it.
Added vocals from the original Diplo & Afrojack version with an added Miami Bass kick for more gusto. Awesome if you cbf playing/hearing the original.

Major Lazer – Pon De Floor (Laidback Luke Mix)

Trumpdisco have done a stand-out job this year, producing and remixing some quality tracks. The 2 Melbourne lads are really an acquired taste, leaning more towards the heavier/bangerish side of electro. No change here with their outstanding mix of dancefloor destroyer “Suspense is Killing Me” by Boy 8-Bt. They sample the original well, allowing it to flow into a barrage of Proxy like, heavy, distorted basslines and synth work.

Boy 8-Bit – Suspense Is Killing Me (Trumpdisco Mix)

I randomly found this track. The bad thing is I dunno where I got it from, who it’s by or what it’s called. It’s simply labelled “Track 06″. It’s pretty fucking awesome though.
Vocals work well, catchy bassline and melod, there’s an awesome 8-bt guitar sample that in and out in some parts. If anyone can ID the track let me know.

Uknown Artist – Unknown Track

I realy like this next track. Definatly a crowd pleaser. Awesome sample that everyone knows and loves, fun and bouncy basslines and a B-More drum loop thrown in for sexyness. Download it now!

Dr. Dre & Snoop – The Next Episode (Will Power & Rico Tubbs Mix)

I thought I’d share a mash up I made in about 20 mins a few days ago. I made it with a horrible DIY acapella, so forgive
me.

Moda owns you

by jake

Lies Packshot

‘Lies’ is released on Moda Music on 2nd November, with a 12” vinyl edition out 26th October. Having released their debut single ‘Cult Of Romance’ on Alain Braxe’s Vulture label, quartet Fenech-Soler have teamed up with Moda Music, the new label from party heavyweights Moda. Lies is typical of Fenech’s perfectly pitched dancefloor pop; dynamic rushes of crunching bass and synth, fuelled for the airwaves with an abundance of hooks.

I wasn’t at all satisfied with the original but the beauty of it being an original is;  it can always be remixed.. which it has been – by two, relatively new producers. BeatauCue’s version could easily be mistaken for an original with the ominous kicks and catchy vocals. On the other hand, we’ve got Torro Torro’s edition that every muzza in Melbourne can relate to. The hook is catchy and the beat is somewhat tribal.

Don Diablo takes on the future classic ‘Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes’ by French house legends Cassius. The single will be released on November 5th on Cassius Records with additional remixes by Radioslave, The Subs and Reset!. Don Diablo adds extra funk and freshness to the dark & epic monster that is ‘Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes’ and makes you wish summer had only just begun! Also, be on the look out for Don Diablo’s forthcoming new single ‘Where I belong’, which will be supported by a fantastic new video and remix package to boot.

BeatauCue

by Barron

BeatauCue

While WTRS is on footy trip i’m running the show and it’s time to shed some light on what is, my producer of the year. BeatauCue is from France and has only 3 remixes to date. Which allows me to draw conclusions that BeatauCue is a well known artist who has done the shifty and changed his name. Which one I can’t work out for the life of me? Maybe Noob or Lazy Jay hmmm time to investigate…

These are tracks that I should have been posting over the last week, though laziness and Zelda on my laptop have forced me deep into some old school Nintendo sessions which have, in turn, prevented my blogging ability.  Please forgive me. The Lee Mortimer and Laidback Luke track may be a sampler but should quench your thirst in waiting for the full track to drop. It starts off very muzza then drops into a vintage Lee Mortimer bassline which saves the whole track from being played on overdrive.
